November 7, exactly one month to the day of Hurricane Matthew’s devastating visit upon Daufuskie, will be the first day of Haig Point’s 21st Annual Pro-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.
The overwhelming clean-up effort of members and employees working side by side has made it possible to complete the fall over-seeding, open our courses on November 4, and have the Rees Jones Signature Course in top condition for this three-day pro-am event.
The Pro-Am will kick off on Monday with a “formal” practice round that will include a pay-out competition followed by a players’ welcoming dinner. The next two days will be tournament rounds with the format of the game being the combined total of one-best-ball gross plus one-best-ball net. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.
A full field of 96 players (one pro and three amateurs) from all over the country will make up this year's field. Touring professionals will play from the Gold tees, approximately 7100 yards; club professionals will play from the Black tees at 6700 yards and amateur participants will play from the White tees set at approximately 6400 yards. The event will also include numerous on-course contests and the always famous Putting Contest after completion of the first round.
