Haig Point Boat Club

All the fun. None of the fuss.

A grassy path and long dock lead from the Mansion grounds to a 12-boat dock, home to the popular Haig Point Boat Club. Like all things on the Point the mantra is effortless and carefree. Members arriving from Charleston and points north tie up here, as do those coming daytripping or overnighting from Hilton Head marinas.

The program includes dry dock storage – we drop in and haul out – as well as handle provisions and necessary essentials for days on the water.

Full Speed Ahead

Yacht Club Affiliation

Haig Point enjoys agreements where our respective members share amenities with the South Carolina and Windmill Harbour Yacht Clubs, both just across the water on Hilton Head Island. Both facilities include dock service, as well as dining. At Windmill, which is at Harbour Town is a beautiful restaurant and lounge with a stunning deck that overlooks the entire anchorage and lighthouse. These are exceptional and luxurious memberships that extend services to more than 700 clubs nationwide.

“I loved these salt rivers more than I loved the sea; I loved the movement of tides more than I loved the fury of surf.”

Lawn Sports

Everything except archery

It’s all fun and games on the great lawn, until someone gets a few points ahead. Bocce rolls upon crushed oyster shells, nearby, wickets await on a regulation croquet court. All this plays out on a grassy square framed by the historic Mansion, tabby ruins and an oak tree formally designated by arborists as a living monument – dating to the signing of the Constitution — now almost 250 years ago.

Treasure Island

Point yourself away, the pursuit of happiness ends here. Come and discover our island of adventures.

Kidding around

Our island, inside and outside the gate is a 5,000-acre playground for kids of all ages. But our Kids’ Camp is reserved for those 5-12 years old. Activities include horseback riding, golf, tennis, trips to Bloody Point Beach, naturalist excursions, archery, crafts and more. Camp counselors are CPR/First Aid-certified and have experience overseeing all camp venues and activities.

“If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles,”
Doug Larson
I spent most of my money on fishing.
the rest I wasted.

The topic love may be only one with more quotations than fishing. Fishing quotes are however generally happier. Around the point, happiness then rises and ebbs with the tide. We fish saltwaters from beach and boat, we cast flies in our marshes and lagoons. And seemingly tied to every bridge and dock are traps patiently awaiting tonight’s fresh blue crab. Ready to try your luck? Bait and gear are stocked at the Mansion to equip expert and novice alike.
