Project Update
No. 4, June 30th, 2026
Tangible Progress. This is our fourth monthly report. In our first three messages, we communicated about activities, plans, targets and efforts to get teams in place. This month, we report on more tangible progress as efforts come to fruition: (1) selection, approval, and contracting with a project manager for Haig Point’s Harmony Project; (2) selection, approval, and contracting with a project architect for the Wellness Center and Pickleball Courts; (3) contracting with the golf course architect and the contractor for Osprey and Signature work over the next three years; (4) data about member assessments, including summary information about payment frequency selection and collections to date; and (5) perhaps best of all, the start of physical work as Haig Point begins to prepare for the first phase (Osprey) of golf course work
Meet Project Harmony’s Project Manager
After the detailed and competitive selection process described in previous monthly reports, the Stewardship Committee recommended, and the Board approved a project manager, who will report to the Stewardship Committee and the Board, and act as the owner’s representative for Haig Point for Project Harmony. A detailed contract was negotiated, then reviewed by our outside legal counsel, who made recommendations that were fully implemented. Our Project Manager will be William (“Bill”) Herman, Principal of Urban Realty Advisors, LLC, John’s Island, SC.
As project manager, Bill will be responsible for a long list of specific oversight, coordination and reporting functions, and will be the eyes and ears of the Stewardship Committee, the Board and by extension, the membership as owners of this work. The project management contract is for $452,000 spread over the 42-month period of the projects, with more time and work anticipated to be spent on Wellness/Pickleball, given its less developed current status and higher level of complexity in relation to available in-house expertise and experience we have available on the golf side. This cost is well within market for services of this type, particularly for someone as experienced as Bill.
Meet Project Harmony’s Project Architect for Wellness/Pickleball
Similarly, after the competitive selection process we’ve previously described, we recommended and the Board approved a project architect for the Wellness Center/Pickleball Courts. We negotiated a contract, obtained legal review by outside counsel, whose advice we implemented. Our project architect for Wellness/Pickleball will be Pearce Scott Architects. Their team will be led by Principal Pearce Scott.

Haig Point
To implement Rees Jones design work, following a competitive bidding and evaluation process led by the Golf and Greens Committee before creation of the Stewardship Committee, national golf contracting firm Duininck, Inc. was selected as the contractor for golf course renovation. See their portfolio of course work here. A contract with Duininck has now been negotiated (with input from the Stewardship Committee), approved and signed. It is in the amount of $8,583,190.75.
Visible Work
Has Now Begun!
If you’ve been on the Osprey Course recently, you’ve probably noticed a great deal of work done to clear underbrush. This is part of the work Haig Point is doing to save costs and prepare for the later arrival of Duininck. This week or next, dredging should also begin on the distressed pond on Osprey’s 6th hole to remove about eight feet of material, returning it from what it has become to a beautiful water feature for the hole and a healthier environment for aquatic life, birds and other animals.
